Regional Coordination

Each region where we undertake coordinated work is led by one of our member organisations which nominates a staff member to coordinate Destination Unknown's campaigns and outreach in the region.
Ingrid Mendonca 

South Asia 

Ingrid is Terre des Hommes Germany's Regional Coordinator for South Asia and acts as the coordinator for Destination Unknown in the region. She is a passionate activist on children's and women's rights, with extensive experience of championing children's and women's rights with Terre des Hommes and local organisations in the South Asia region. She has worked with and supported several civil rights organisations and democratic rights groups working for gender equity. Ingrid loves yoga, hiking, cycling and running.

Ashish Ghosh

India 

Ashish is Terre des Hommes Suisse's Head of India and the Asia region and acts as the coordinator for Destination Unknown in India. He works to promote and protect children's rights and sincerely believes in gender equity and inclusive development with the participation of children and youth. He has been associated with many rights-based networks in India and South Asia. He enjoys travelling, photography and listening to classical and contemporary music.

Leonor Quinto

Southern Africa 

Leonor is Terre des Hommes Germany's Regional Coordinator for Southern Africa and acts as a coordinator for Destination Unknown in the region together with Cathy. Leonor has been working in development and humanitarian projects in Southern Africa for three decades and she is passionate about women’s and children’s rights. She has dedicated her professional life to social justice and contributed to civil society movements to revise and disseminate laws for the advancement of land and women’s rights. She assisted in the establishment and development of several local NGOs in Mozambique and worked as a trainer on gender and project management for many years. As a member of a women’s lawyers association, she provided legal support to victims of domestic violence. She loves sailing and hiking.

Cathy Rutivi

Southern Africa 

Cathy is Terre des Hommes Germany's Regional Operations and Programme Manager in Southern Africa and acts as a coordinator for Destination Unknown in the region together with Leonor. Cathy is passionate about development, in particular children’s rights and migration issues, and believes that giving vulnerable and disadvantaged people a voice gives them hope to make decisions about improving their lives. She enjoys cooking, gardening and going for long walks at the weekend to refresh.

Raphael Kariuki

East Africa 

Raphael is Terre des Hommes Netherlands' Head of Region, Africa, and acts as the coordinator for Destination Unknown in East Africa. He is a development practitioner and a firm believer in children's rights. He has a particular interest in contributing to an Africa that empowers and emancipates children and youth from all forms of exploitation. He is passionate about creating a world where children can be children. He enjoys watching movies, reading, swimming and meeting friends. 

Linnet Awor

East Africa 

Linnet works with Terre des Hommes Netherlands in East Africa as the Technical Expert - Lobby and Advocacy. She supports the coordination of Destination Unknown in East Africa. Linnet is passionate about advocacy, gender equity, women and children’s rights, and migration issues. She believes in amplifying the voices of marginalised people, especially children on the move, and adolescent girls and women. She is a keen promoter of girls' education in rural Uganda. She has over 15 years of work experience at national and regional levels in Africa and a Masters’ degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom. She is a farmer, a wife and a mum!

Judy Yazbeck

Euro-med 

Judy is Advocacy Officer with Insan Association in Lebanon and acts as a coordinator for Destination Unknown in Euro-med together with Dominik. Judy is a Lebanese lawyer and a humanitarian activist. She works on projects promoting the rights of migrants, refugees, and children. She has experience in organising focus groups and participatory meetings at local level in Lebanon and following up with specific legal cases within public institutions.

Dominik Kalweit

Euro-med 

Dominik is Vice Executive Director and Director for Projects & Initiatives of Maltese NGO Kopin and acts as a coordinator for Destination Unknown in Euro-med together with Judy. Dominik holds a Diploma (ISCED 7) from the University of Augsburg, Germany, in Political Science and Communication Sciences and has worked in international development cooperation, global education and human rights since 2005. He focuses on strategic planning, resource mobilisation, team management, training, advocacy and research.

Thomas Mortensen

Central America 

Thomas is Terre des Hommes Germany's Regional Coordinator for Latin America and acts as the coordinator for Destination Unknown in Central America. He has a Master's degree in Development Studies and Economics and postgraduate diplomas in human rights and international humanitarian law. Earlier in his career, he worked for different UN agencies, INGOs and academia. He lives in Bogota with his family.
